  • JOYweavers Has a New Fiscal Sponsor

JOYweavers is pleased to announce that Communities For People (CFP) is now our fiscal sponsor. CFP is among the most well-respected organizations dedicated to serving youth and adolescents in the foster care system in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island. With their support and expertise, JOYweavers will move toward establishing our own 501(c)(3) and in the company of their affiliated agencies who share with us a commitment to children and youth mental health. For more information about CFP, please visit their website www.communities-for-people.org

  • JOYweavers Awarded Grant from the Lenny Zakim Fund

We are so proud to have been selected for support by the Lenny Zakim Fund (LZF)! While we appreciate their funding, the opportunities for coaching, mentorships and access to a non-profit community through LZF are extraordinary. Their support over the next five years is incredibly meaningful and will bring us into our next chapter.

  • Community Events

In the 2024-2025 school year, JOYweavers participated in STEAM IT UP Cambridge and the Foundry Festival. We also offered training and consultation to more than 100 other out-of-school time providers and several programs. We are excited to share our brand of inclusion programming in and around Cambridge over the coming months. For more information about consultation or trainings, please email us at mia@joyweavers.org.

  • The Broader Context

Do you have questions about what is happeming for your child at school? In the fall JOYweavers will be staffed to provide resources and support. There is already free help to be found. By state law, every township has a Special Education Parents Advisory Council (SEPAC). They are eager to help think through IEP, 504, or school discipline questions. www.cambridgesepac.org or find them on facebook at SE-PAC Cambirdge Parent Advisory Council or www.somervillesepac.org. Also consider reaching out to the Federation for Children with Special Needs (www.fcsn.org). We are all stronger when we are in community!

“Please let the wonderful staff know that they have played such an important role in giving kids a great summer. They have helped kids see themselves in new ways: as friends, swimmers, artists, naturalists, canoe riders, and members of a community who understood and loved them.
